Becoming a Tec 50 diver signifies an advanced level of expertise, enabling you to conduct extended range dives to depths of up to 50 meters/165 feet. This certification equips you with the proficiency to execute dives featuring multiple decompression stops using two decompression gases. Attaining the Tec 50 certification is a significant achievement, unlocking opportunities for deeper diving expeditions. Additionally, divers have the option to pursue certification as a Tec 50 Trimix Diver.
Course Structure
The Tec 50 course comprises five knowledge development sections, four practical application sessions, and four training dives. The primary focus of this course is on mastering advanced dive equipment options, techniques, and procedures, including the use of two decompression cylinders and planning more complex dives. Participants will also learn advanced emergency management techniques, dive support considerations, and enhance their critical thinking as technical divers. Tec 50 Trimix students will receive instruction on dive planning and diving with Trimix.

Equipment
Participants will utilize full technical dive equipment and may opt for a technical sidemount configuration, along with two decompression cylinders.
Tec 50 Trimix (Option)
Interested in exploring the advantages of using Trimix gas, such as reduced gas density and decreased narcosis effects? Tec 50 divers can also learn to utilize trimix with oxygen content not less than 21 percent and not more than 40 percent helium. This course serves as preparation for deeper and more complex trimix diving, such as the PADI Tec Trimix 65 and PADI Tec Trimix courses. Consult your dive instructor for additional requirements needed to complete the Tec 50 Trimix option.

Overview
To enroll in the Tec 50 course, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- Possession of a PADI Tec 45 Diver certification
- Certification as a PADI Rescue Diver*
- A minimum of 100 logged dives or 75 hours of logged dive time
- Must be at least 18 years old
Additionally, candidates must provide a Diver Medical Form signed by a physician within the last 12 months. Qualifying certifications from other recognized diver training organizations may also be accepted; consult your PADI Tec 50 Instructor for clarification.
* If meeting this requirement with a qualifying certification, proof of CPR/First Aid training within the previous two years is necessary.
