The PADI TecRec Tec 45 course challenges you to take the next step in your diving journey and commit to becoming a proficient technical diver. This course extends your depth limit to 45 meters/150 feet, enabling you to plan and execute both single and repetitive decompression dives using a single decompression cylinder with up to 100 percent oxygen. You'll utilize double cylinders, which can be configured either in a back mount or sidemount diving setup. Tec 45 serves as a prerequisite to Tec 50, and divers also have the option to pursue certification as a Tec 45 Trimix Diver.
Academic Component:
The Tec 45 training program comprises seven knowledge development sections, four practical application sessions, and four open water dives. Building upon the foundation laid in the Tec 40 course, participants will delve deeper into advanced techniques, procedures, and emergency skills. Topics covered include advanced decompression, gas planning, decompression models, and further development of the technical diver mindset. Tec 45 Trimix students will also receive instruction on diving with trimix gas.

Equipment:
Participants will utilize full technical dive equipment, which includes wings and doubles plus an additional deco cylinder, or they may opt for a technical sidemount configuration. Your PADI Tec 45 Instructor will provide guidance on the specific dive equipment required for your tec diving endeavors.
Tec 45 Trimix (Option):
Interested in exploring the benefits of using Trimix gas, such as decreased gas density and reduced narcosis effects? Tec 45 divers can also learn to utilize trimix with oxygen content not less than 21 percent and not more than 35 percent helium. Overview
- PADI Tec 40 Diver certification
- PADI Rescue Diver certification*
- A minimum of 50 logged dives, with at least 10 dives deeper than 30 meters/100 feet
- Must be at least 18 years old
Additionally, candidates must provide a Diver Medical Form signed by a physician within the last 12 months. Qualifying certifications from other reputable diver training organizations may also be accepted; consult your Tec 45 Instructor for clarification.
* If meeting this requirement with a qualifying certification, proof of CPR/First Aid training within the previous two years is required.
